02.3 Design

High-fidelityUI.

01 / 04Every interface starts as grey boxes. That part is easy.

02 / 04Fidelity is a hundred small decisions: type, spacing, rhythm.

03 / 04Then colour and imagery, applied by rules, not by mood.

04 / 04And the part most designs forget: every state, every theme.

What it is

Looks good is the minimum.

UI design (user interface design) turns a working flow into the screens people actually see and touch: layout, typography, colour, imagery, icons, components and the way each one behaves. High-fidelity means it is designed to the last pixel and every state, so what gets built looks exactly like what was approved.

Good UI is not decoration. It makes the important thing obvious, the next step clear and the brand recognisable at a glance. It is also consistent: the same button looks and behaves the same everywhere, because it comes from a design system, not from a new decision every time.

We design on top of a validated UX flow and your brand identity, then hand it straight to our own developers.

Every state

One field, seven designs.

A screen in a mockup has one state. A real interface has many: hover, focus, error, loading, empty, disabled. We design all of them, so developers never have to guess. Click through.

Systems, not screens

Every size comes from one rule.

Good typography is not twenty font sizes chosen by eye. It is a base size and a ratio, turned into tokens that design and code share. Change the rule and every heading follows. Try it.

Accessible by design

Pretty is not enough. It has to be readable.

WCAG asks for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 : 1 for normal text and 3 : 1 for large text and interface parts. We check every colour pair before it reaches a screen. Pick a text and a background and see the real ratio.

Background

Colours from the Octopush palette. Amber looks great behind dark text and on dark backgrounds. On light backgrounds it is decoration only: lines, dots, shapes. Never text.

What you get

Designed to be built exactly.

01

High-fidelity screens

Every key screen designed for mobile, tablet and desktop, in real content, not lorem ipsum.

02

Design system

Colours, type scale, spacing, grids and design tokens, documented so the product stays consistent as it grows.

03

Component library

Buttons, forms, cards, navigation and more, each with every state: hover, focus, error, loading, empty, disabled.

04

Interactive prototype

A clickable prototype for sign-off and user testing before a line of code is written.

05

Accessibility built in

Contrast-checked colours, readable type sizes and visible focus states, designed to WCAG guidelines.

06

Developer handover

Figma files with specs, assets and tokens, plus the designers who made them available to the developers who build them.

Handover

What developers actually receive.

Our designers and developers work in the same team, but we hand over as if they did not. It is the only way a design survives contact with code.

  • Design tokens. Colours, type, spacing and radii as named values, ready for CSS.
  • Component specs. Sizes, spacing and behaviour for every component and state.
  • Responsive rules. What changes between phone, tablet and desktop, and why.
  • Assets. Icons as SVG, images exported and optimised, fonts with their licences.
  • Motion notes. Durations and easing for every transition, not “make it smooth”.
  • Accessibility notes. Contrast pairs, focus order, labels and alt-text guidance.
  • Content rules. Real copy, character limits and what happens when text is too long.
  • A walkthrough. A session with the developers, then we stay available while they build.

How we work

Systems first, screens second.

You get a clear timeline before we start.

Step 1

Foundations

Grid, type scale, colour and spacing tokens, taken from your brand and tested on real screens.

Step 2

Key screens

The most important screens first, designed for mobile and desktop, reviewed together.

Step 3

Components

Every repeating element becomes a component with all of its states and variants.

Step 4

Handover

Prototype, documentation and a walkthrough with the developers. We stay close while it is built.

Who it's for

When it is time for UI.

Your site looks dated

It works, but it looks like it was made years ago, and visitors judge the business by it.

Your product grew screen by screen

Five kinds of buttons, three greys, no rules. A design system brings it back together.

You are about to build

A new site, app or platform. Designing every state now prevents expensive guesswork during development.

Next steps

Pixel-perfect is a team sport.

Design and development sit at the same table, so nothing gets lost in handover.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is high-fidelity UI design?

Interface design finished to the last detail: real content, exact spacing, final colours and type, and every state of every component, ready to be built exactly as designed.

What is the difference between UI and UX?

UX decides how the product works: steps, structure, logic. UI decides how it looks and behaves on screen. We usually do both, UX first.

What is a design system?

A shared library of design decisions: colours, type, spacing, components and the rules for using them. It keeps a product consistent and makes new screens faster to design and build.

Do you design in Figma?

Yes. You get full access to the Figma files, components and prototypes, and they stay yours.

Do you design for mobile?

Mobile first, always. Every screen is designed for phone, tablet and desktop.

Can you redesign our existing site without rebuilding it?

Sometimes. If the structure is sound, a UI refresh and a design system can be applied to what exists. We will tell you honestly when a rebuild is the better investment.

Is accessibility included?

Yes. Colour contrast, readable type, focus states and touch targets are part of every design, not an extra.

How much does UI design cost?

It depends on the number of screens and components. After a short call we send a transparent proposal with the cost broken down.
