Pits Experiences

Two brothers have been taking people out on the waters of Milos since 2012. We designed and built their website around what they actually sell: a day at sea.

The brief

Sell the day, not the boat.

  • 01
Make choosing easyNine tours, four boats, half or full day. Visitors should find their trip at a glance, not in a maze of pages.
  • 02
Feel like MilosWhite cliffs, sea caves, turquoise coves. The site should feel like the island before anyone steps on a boat.
  • 03
Be found on the islandPeople search from a phone, often already on the island. The site has to be there, and fast.
  • 04
Book without frictionKeep Bokun for bookings and payments, and build every page so it leads there.
The approach

Built from zero.
Nothing it doesn’t need.

Custom theme

Written for Pits only. Boarding passes, sea charts and route maps live in its code, not in a builder.

SEO built in

Titles, schema, sitemap and breadcrumbs from our own SEO layer, with a Google preview right in the editor.

Leads & consent, in-house

Every request lands in the dashboard, every email is logged, and the cookie banner actually asks first.

Booking that stays

Bokun still takes the bookings. We built each tour page around it, so it loads only when needed and never pushes the page around.

We gave the site the island’s own language: coordinates, boarding passes and sea charts. Every page reads like a day on the water.

The site

Four pages, one island.

The design

Every page, a day at sea.

Nine tours, four boats, one island. We designed around how people really choose a trip: where to, on which boat, for how long.

Tours

Every tour is a boarding pass

Where you leave from, where you’re going, on which boat, for how long and for how much. One glance, no clicking around.

Tour pages

A route on every tour

The stops are read from the tour’s own text and drawn on the map. Nothing extra to fill in.

Now in Milos

Before you write, the page shows the island right now: time, air, wind and sea. Live, right here too.

Blog

A logbook, not a blog

Each article becomes an entry with its own coordinates. The table of contents and the place cards build themselves from the text.

Plan your tour

Draw your own day

Pick the stops and the site tells you how long the day will be and which tour it’s closest to. Try it.

Privacy

A cookie banner that means it

“Reject all” looks exactly like “Accept all”. Until someone chooses, not a single request goes to Google or Meta.

Cookies on this site

We use analytics to see what people read and marketing cookies to measure ads. Your call.

Requests to Google & Meta so far: 0

A menu that sells

Nine tours grouped into five routes, each with its boats, hours and prices, right in the main menu.

Four boats, side by side

Who drives, how many guests, license or not, from what price. The fleet page answers before anyone asks.

Requests with a receipt

Send a request and you get a boarding pass back, stamped “Request received”.

SEO, built in

Found by people
already on the island.

No SEO plugin. The theme tells Google what each page is: a trip, with a route, a departure point and answers to the usual questions.

Results

Light by design.

Measured on the live site, October 2026.

110 KB

of HTML for the whole homepage.

9

style and script files on the homepage, nothing more.

100%

of the site’s own photos in WebP, named and described.

0

requests to Google or Meta before the visitor says yes.

Behind the scenes

Photos with names

Every image titled and described by looking at it, not in bulk.

Booking that never jumps

Bokun loads only as you reach it, with its space held in advance.

Uploads that fix themselves

New JPG and PNG photos become WebP the moment they are uploaded.

Requests the client owns

Every form lands in an inbox in the dashboard, with a log of every email the site sends.

Locked down

Public sign-ups, XML-RPC and the code editor off by default.

Each page carries its own weight

Tours load tour styles, the blog loads blog styles. Nothing else.

Most visitors are already on the island, with a phone in one hand.

  • Checked at four screen sizes, down to 390 px, with zero sideways scroll
  • A booking bar that steps aside when the checkout appears
  • Maps that let the page scroll, with pinch to zoom
